(Penguin, 2008, second edition, ISBN 978-0-141034591)
This is the book that popularised and gave us a term to describe extremely rare events with very large impacts. While not necessarily about safety (there is some in there), it is about risk and decision making all the way. I have heard people commenting and majorly disliking Taleb’s wandering style of writing and his Ego. If you can cope with these, you are in for a treat. The second edition contains a new section: “On Robustness and Fragility”.
